BOE screen technology differences
However, BOE’s screen technology is still unable to catch up with Samsung and LG. What is the difference between them?

About RGB PenTile
PenTile was invented by Clairvoyante from Silicon Valley in San Francisco, USA. It can break through the RGB limit, add additional white, and turn the RGBW four colors into independent pixels, so that each color light can operate independently.
Nowadays, some OLED mobile phones also use RGB PenTile white column method, but this is different from the RGB sub-pixel arrangement of traditional OLED. In the standard RGB arrangement, each pixel is composed of three sub-pixels of red, green and blue, but in PenTile a single pixel is only There will be two sub-pixels of red, green and blue and green, and the number of PenTile sub-pixels will be reduced by 1/3.
However, the arrangement of the PenTile structure brings power saving instead, and each pixel can also be matched with adjacent pixels without being restricted by RGB. Although the color bars are reduced, PenTile can enlarge the area of each color bar of RGBW, which can increase the number of pixels. The light transmittance can also maintain the original brightness, and the relative screen power consumption will be halved.

BOE OLED screen
As for the OLED screens used by BOE, most of them use the “Zhou Dongyu arrangement” (Triangular PenTile), which is a 2 in 1 pixel arrangement. Arrangement, why is it called “Zhou Dongyu”? The main thing is that the sub-pixel arrangement looks like Zhou Dongyu’s staring duck expression.

Both the Pentile arrangement and its variant RGGB-Delta arrangement choose a blue sub-pixel scheme shared by adjacent pixels.
